Who needs to meditate daily? Simple answer, everyone. The reason is we all suffer stress in today's world.
Stress is a physical and mental response to a perceived threat or challenge.
IF you are a person who has suffered trauma of any kind (whether yesterday, today or 40 years ago), you can benefit from a meditation practice. IF you are a person that holds down a job several days a week, you can benefit from a meditation practice. IF you are a parent, you can benefit from a meditation practice. IF you are a child, you can benefit from a meditation practice. If you are a teacher, you can benefit from a meditation practice. Do you see my point? Everyone can actually benefit GREATLY from a daily zen labyrinth board meditation/mindfulness practice.
What causes stress?
Stressors can be a single event or a series of events.
Stressors can include:

Life changes

Discrimination
Natural disasters
How does stress affect the body?
Stress hormones trigger a "fight-or-flight" response.
Your heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure increase.
Your muscles tense up.
You may sweat more.
How does stress affect the mind? Stress can make it hard to relax, You may feel anxious or irritable, and You may have trouble concentrating.
How can you manage stress?
Learning how to cope with stress can help you feel less overwhelmed.
Relaxation techniques, such as yoga or meditation/mindfulness, can help release tension.
Learning how to identify and manage your stress response can help you perform better under pressure.
When does stress become a problem?
Chronic stress can lead to physical and mental health problems.
Stress can worsen existing health problems.
Stress can increase the risk of developing anxiety or depression.
Part of anyone's self-care daily routine can include at least 5 minutes of mindful meditation and the zen labyrinth boards make it easy. I would recommend 20 minutes in the a.m. and 20-minutes in the p.m. for optimum benefit. You simply sit with your board and trace the pattern. Take a few deep breaths. Set a timer. Relax and do your practice. It CAN BE that simple.
